Privacy policy
This policy describes what Leatherback Lighting collects from you, what we do with it, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect what we need to quote and do your work, we text you about that work and nothing else unless you say otherwise, and we never sell your mobile number or share it for marketing.
Effective 4 October 2026
1. Who we are
Leatherback Lighting installs permanent architectural lighting across the Colorado Front Range. We are a brand of Family Holiday Lighting, based at 1840 Delaware Pl, Longmont, CO 80501. You can reach us on (720) 986-9449 or at info@leatherbacklighting.com.
2. Information we collect about you
- Information by which you may be personally identified: your name, postal address, service address, email address, and telephone or mobile number.
- Information about the work you ask us for: estimates, measurements, scheduling, job history, photographs of your property, and payment records.
- Photographs you send us yourself when you request an estimate.
- A record of each request you send or start through our estimate request form: what you entered, the date and time, and the IP address it came from.
3. Text messages and your mobile number
We do not sell, rent, or share your mobile information or your text messaging consent with any third party or affiliate for marketing purposes. Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information is shared only with the service providers that help us write and deliver those messages, who are named in section 6, and only for that purpose.
What we text you about
If you give us your mobile number, we may text you about your estimate, your schedule, when our crew is coming, and other matters relating to your job. Messages are conversational and one to one. We do not run a bulk marketing list.
The line we draw
There are two kinds of message and we treat them differently. Messages about a job that actually exists, such as a quote you asked for, scheduling, crew arrival, or service on open work, run on our existing business relationship with you. Promotional messages, meaning anything about work you have not asked for, require your separate express written permission before we send them. We do not treat a past enquiry as permission for a later promotion.
How you consent
Consent is collected verbally, in person or over the phone, at the moment you give us your mobile number. We record that you agreed, along with the date. When you submit our estimate request form you are asking us to contact you about that request, and we may call or text the number you give us about that estimate, its scheduling and crew arrival, and nothing else. If you start the form, give a phone number or an email, and do not submit it, we keep what you entered, with the time and the IP address, as an unfinished request in our records so we can follow up by phone or email. We do not text you in that case. We never buy, rent or obtain numbers from third party lists, and we do not use keywords, short codes or text to join.
Frequency, cost and how to stop
Message frequency varies. We text when there is something to tell you about your job, or when you have asked us something. There is no fixed schedule and no recurring broadcast. Message and data rates may apply: we do not charge for messages, but your carrier may. Reply STOP to any message and we will not text you again from that number. While some of our texts still come from our scheduling software's number, a STOP sent to one number does not reach the other, so if you want no texts from us at all, tell us by phone or email and we will mark your record. Reply HELP for help, or email us. The full terms are on our text messaging terms page.
4. Cookies, analytics and tracking
The main pages of this site set no cookies, run no analytics, and load no advertising or tracking scripts. Nothing on them reports your visit to a third party.
A few things sit outside that. Our estimate request form saves what you type as you go, and keeps a reference for your request in your browser until you close the tab, so that a request you started can be matched to the one you send. A number of older pages on this site still run on WordPress, our LED setup guide among them. Those pages set a cookie of their own and show a Google map, one of them carries an enquiry form of its own, and the setup guide loads images from GitHub and the WLED project site, so those services see your browser's request when those pages load. Our HAL lighting app, which customers sign in to, loads its lettering from Google Fonts, so Google sees your browser's request when the app opens. And SiteGround, our website host, keeps standard server logs, which record requests made to the site.
5. How we use your information
- To prepare and send you estimates.
- To schedule work and tell you when our crew will arrive.
- To answer questions you ask us.
- To invoice you and keep the records we need for tax, insurance and warranty purposes.
- To service your system under the warranty.
6. Who we share it with
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personally identifiable information to outside parties. We share information only with:
- Service providers who hold or carry information on our behalf. They may use your information only to provide that service to us. The main ones are named below.
- Our installation crew, to the extent needed to do your job.
- Authorities, where the law requires it.
The companies that hold or carry information for us
- Jobber, the software we use for client records, quotes, scheduling and invoicing, including payments made through it and some of the texts and emails we send about a quote. A request sent through our estimate request form, or started and left unfinished with a phone number or an email, becomes a request in Jobber.
- Twilio, the provider that carries the text messages on our own text line and connects calls made to it.
- SiteGround, which hosts this website, our email, and the customer records system we run alongside Jobber.
- Google, whose mapping service we use to check the property address you give us. We also use other mapping and routing services to place and plan jobs, which receive a property address or its map position and nothing else.
- Anthropic, whose Ai service writes the replies our automated scheduling assistant sends when you text us about your job. Most of those replies go out without a person reading them first; anything the assistant cannot answer is passed to our staff. The same service helps us word follow-up messages about a quote or a request. It may also draft a message to a past customer about the coming season; a person reads every one of these before it is sent, and a promotional message is sent only with the permission described in section 3. It receives the text conversation and the details on your record needed to write the message, such as your name, your address, your appointment, what is on your quote, notes on your job and what you have paid us before. When we write to someone who lives near you, it may also receive your name and the day your lights went up or are due to go up, so the message can say we are working nearby. We also use the same Ai service as an office assistant, which can read our customer and job records when it helps us with scheduling, record keeping and running this website. And if you use our HAL lighting app and ask its assistant, Ray, a question, the same service writes the answer; it receives your name, what you typed and the names of your lighting zones and presets.
7. Data security
We have measures in place designed to protect your information from accidental loss and from unauthorised access, use, alteration and disclosure. No system is perfectly secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. How long we keep it
We keep customer and job records as long as we need them to serve you and to satisfy tax, insurance and warranty obligations, generally seven years for financial records. Your system carries a five year warranty, so we keep the job record at least that long in order to honour it. You may ask us to delete anything we are not required to keep. To ask, email info@leatherbacklighting.com.
9. Your choices and rights
You may ask us what information we hold about you, correct anything that is wrong, delete anything we are not legally required to retain, stop us texting you by replying STOP, or stop us emailing you. Email info@leatherbacklighting.com and we will respond within a reasonable time.
10. Children
Our website and services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
11. Changes to this policy
We post any change to this policy on this page, with the date it took effect at the top. Check that date when you come back.
This version replaced the one dated 28 September 2026. It adds the record we keep when our request form is started or sent, and says we may follow up by phone or email on a form that was started and not sent. It names the companies that hold or carry information for us, and describes the Ai service that writes text replies, helps us word other messages and works as our office assistant. It says which older pages of this site set a cookie. And it makes one promise more exact: we never sell your mobile number and never share it for marketing; the companies named in section 6 handle it only to provide their service to us.
